Whither "You're welcome"?

At the end of interviews on the radio, I hear the interviewer say "Thank you", to which the interviewed responds "Thank you". Shouldn't that be "You're welcome"?

One of my favorite things.

I think that my favorite word to write in cursive is "vacuum".
