Michael Leddy at Orange Crate Art has recently blogged on songs about FDR. I suggested "Tell Me Why You Like Roosevelt" by the Evangelist Singers. That got me to thinking about why we don't have campaign songs today.
Here is a humble contribution. Feel free to add your own verses. I will now return to being apolitical.
Tell me why you like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
Tell me why you like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
Tell me why you like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
Good God almighty, she’s freedom’s friend
In the year of 20-21 on a January day
A big old grump named Donald Trump
Tried to steal our election away
He was smug with his army of thugs
But it didn’t go as planned
I’m sad to tell he didn’t land in a cell
And now he’s back at it again
That’s why I like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
That’s why I like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
That’s why I like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
Good God almighty, she’s freedom’s friend
If the Republicans win this election, I’m told they have a plan
They’ll run all our lives with Project 2025
And most of our liberties banned
The Heritage Foundation
Man, they don’t know Jack
But when we fight we win with Kamala and Tim
And we're not going back
We're not going back
We're not going back
That’s why I like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
That’s why I like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
That’s why I like Kamala (freedom’s friend)
Good God almighty, she’s freedom’s friend
