Coda

The last piece of the last book of the Suzuki Guitar School is Leyenda by Albeniz. A student who has been with me since he was three years old is finishing the composition before heading off to college next week. 

I've taken him from Twinkle to here. His first instrument was a guitar shaped styrofoam block that I made for him to use while his was being built in Chile. 

In his penultimate lesson with me yesterday, I took him up to the coda.

"What about the coda?" he asked.

"I've taken you this far. You figure out what comes next."
