In January I realized that there were three of my former university students who had either never left town or had returned after being gone for a while. I surveyed them to see if there was interest in forming a quartet. There was.
This past week we gave our first performance for an invited audience of friends and family. It went well.
What impressed me most was how they each took ownership of the process. One took care of invitations and RSVPs, another the program, another refreshments. They all practiced hard, rehearsed well together, and contributed well thought ideas about repertoire and interpretation.
Now we need more. More repertoire and more performance opportunities. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
